Welcome to my personal home page on the World Wide
Web! I'm glad you stopped by.
My wife, Peggy
Kerry, and I live in Greenwich Village
in New York City with our daughter, Iris, and our two
cats, Thelma and Louise.
Here are several pictures of our seven year old
daughter, Iris, Chinese name Fang
Fang, who was adopted from Chongqing, China, in
March of 2001.
Lying in hilly country, at the confluence of the
Jialing and upper Yangtze Rivers, Chongqing
is the commercial and industrial hub of China's
southwestern Sichuan Province. It is pronounced Chong
ching, and was once called Chungking as in "Chungking
Express".
We used China Seas
Adoption Services, an agency that specializes in
China adoptions, to help us adopt Iris. We could not
have been more happy with the services and advice they
provided, before, during and after our adoption.
Iris went to pre-school at
Red Apple Child Development Center, in Chinatown,
which offers a bilingual program in English and Mandarin.
She was enrolled in Red Apple from mid-May of 2001 to August
2003. She was already very verbal in Chinese when we adopted her,
and they helped maintain her Chinese while she picked up
English rapidly. She loved it.
She is now enrolled in 2nd Grade in
Shuang Wen School, a bilingual public school in Chinatown. Instruction
is in both English and Mandarin, and the school is very highly rated. Although
she is given a lot of homework to do, Iris seems to love it so far.
I've also included links to some related Web sites.
